2019 Player Countdown
#71
Grigg , tow ball , is a funny player , he's not one I study closely
he has had run with roles , he had a time where he was good at getting out the back
I think he had been good at getting back and helping the defense
and I think at different times he was an important cog in our fast transition play
one point I have noticed about him was having a good strike rate when picking out long targets
and lastly a bit role has been to pinch hit in the ruck

He and Houli were some of our early "list improvers" during the Hardwick reign
he has some fans and some that are not overly keen on him
I think that will come about because we , the fans, are not privy to the roles and tasks the coaches are giving him

the way he seems to be received around the club is very positive
he always seems to have a positive demeanour so I'm guessing he plays an important part in a very good club/team culture

what to others have to add , or challenge my waffle ?
I feel the need , The need for SPEED

One of the best football thinkers going around.

Agree with that, and pays attention to the umpire briefings, as seen in JLT 2 when he managed to get a 100 metre penalty.

Every time I hear Mr Brightside, I flash back to the Grand Final Smile

Thanks Gracie. All is well through a fair bit of turmoil and out the other end smiling.

I am a big fan of Grigg, one of the cleverest football minds we have. Not a great kick, not a lot of pace but is very reliable and knows where to go, how to position himself and does a lot of on field coaching. Getting nearer to the end than the start but it's always great to get a steal from Carlton.

For Saturday we had #5 Brandon Ellis

Brandon is 181cm and 82kg. His DOB is 3/8/1993 so will turn 26 in August

He comes from West Cioburg (Vic) via Calder U18. He was taken at # 15 in the 2011 National Draft.

Premiership player and Richmond Football Club Life Member

2nd in Jack Dyer medal 2014 and All Australian nominees that same year. Rising star nominee 2012

Has played 153 AFL Games with 18 in 2018. Has kicked 49 Career goals with 3 in 2018.

This is a big year for Brandon on a couple of fronts.

Firstly he is a free agent this year and has put contract talks on hold until the middle of the year.
Secondly he was dropped last year after a long run of consecutive games. His place is not assured in the Tigers top 22 and needs to refine his game if he wants to get back in and stay in the top side.

or he takes a better offer elsewhere. Will he be the first 2017 Tiger premiership player to play for another club??

Yesterday we had the tattooed maestro himself, the Mr Don't Argue #4 Dustin Martin

Mr Martin is 187cm and 92kg of pure wrecking ball muscle. His manufacture date is 26/6/1991 so has been on earth 27 years right now.

From Castlemaine (Vic) via Bendigo U18 but I know he spent some time in Sydney Western Suburbs with his father. Taken at #3 in the 2009 National Draft

Today we have #3 Dion Prestia

Dion is 175cm and 82kg. His DOB is 12/10/1992 so he will be 26 for all of this season

Huge year for Brandon. He seems determined and has a huge tank. It's his helicopter kicking and sometimes poor options that catches him out. That said it proves how much better we now are that he is a fringe selection.

Dusty no more needs to be said.

Dion really looking forward to him this year as has finally had a pre season

With just two days remaining we are up to #2 Dylan Grimes

Dylan is 193cm and 90kg DOB is 16/7/1991 so will turn 28 late in the season.

Hails from Hurstbridge (Vic) via Northern U18. Taken at pick #2 in the 2010 Pre Season Draft so good recruiting

Dylan what a ripper. Brave fast and diligent. Worked through early career injuries and in my mind now would be one of the very first picked. Still underrated in my book.
