That will be the game, Doggies stack tge back line but still get the centre clearance to seal the game.

RFC 16:9 to 16:16.

Stengle with the free RFC 17:9 to 16:16

We were 2 goals up at 3/4 time, we kicked 5 in the last qtr and still lost. Don't see that very often. Should have been able to close that one out.

We were young, two players down and played players to learn, i.e. Garthwaite on Redpath, Bolton in the guts, etc. We held off one surge, got 2 goals up and then ran out of legs. We also started to see imho, who could play in the ones and taught Ryan a little about what it will take.

So what did you think of Garthwaite's game?

As @HKTiger mentioned, he played mainly on Redpath who proved too big and too experienced for him. I am hopeful that Garthwaite will learn a lot from the experience.
Cheers!

Take a look @ Bolton's highlights from the weekend. Very impressive in the air. Great leap and strong hands. Excellent closing speed. Might be closer to an AFL debut than first thought. Much stronger in the hips & thighs than I thought. He & Stengle both have that X factor.

Agree re Bolton. I think that he may make his senior debut very soon based on his game against Footscray.
Cheers!

I thought Beasley had him, especially when he was kicking goals (i.e. closer in). I think Garth played more high D50.

3rd and 4th Q, Ryan had Redpath more often than not. Good learning experience.

And @Gracie I liked his game. A he learnt stuff and b) he didn't/doesn't like being beaten.

I see a real trend in the VFL of players being played in positions and roles so that they can step into the ones and replace a senior player. So we sacrifice a little in potential wins but are grooming replacements. Has been very noticeable with Townshend, Shai, Tyson, Corey, Ryan. Even Sam Lloyd who is now more and more a mid. Is better defensively than Anthony.
