Richmond VFL Captain 2014
#11
I really can't see an ex afl player doing it. They very rarely go back to the vfl, it's just not worth it for them unless they are really trying to get back onto an afl list. Tim Clarke could be half a chance to come back and play. He's only 32 I think and still very fit (ran the Boston marathon I believe), and played a game in the coburg 2s the other week.

Depends what their budget is really and how much they can pay the non Richmond listed guys, and even if they could pay a big name say $20-30,000 a season to do it, you're never going to get a Simon black or a gia, you'd be looking at a Stephenson or John Baird type at best. Another possibility is that they may have a rotating captain and give some listed guys the experience, I've played in reserve grade teams that have done that and it seemed to work ok.

I heard Paul Roos is being courted for the role...

A left wing choice here... how about Paul Bevan?

Ex Swans premiership player and is currently the captain for Perth in the WAFL and is killing it this year, near the top of the goal kicking table (not bad for a 185cm midfield type) and is a hardnut in the Hardwick mould. Tried to get a trade back to a Vic AFL club a couple of years ago but was unsuccessful, will be 29 next year.

The games I've seen he's barely noticeable. Besides I reckon Punt Road would be the last place he'd wish to return to.

Tambling is the most disappointing RFC story for me. A lovely lad. Top 3 in the B&F in his last full season at Punt Road, and a season just as good the one before in my opinion. The kid just needed more love. I lived in Adelaide in 2010 and 2011. Loved the SANFL. I was a regular at 'The Parade' in Norwood (best Seafood Pizzas in Australia). I look at the SANFL weekly, and Tambling is dominating Gimme. His first half of 2011 at the Crows was VERY good. A suspension, an injury and then a slight dip in form and he has been the whipping boy since. My eyebrows have hit the roof some weeks late this season when Tambling has not even made the emergency list at the Crows after they lost poorly the week before. Surely Melbourne or GWS could turn him into the next Dale Kickett. How many clubs did he play at before realising his potential at the WCE? Your last point was correct. He wouldn't want to come back. He was pretty happy to be traded.

Yes it was. It was a long time ago. Dale Kicket struggled at Fitzroy, St Kilda and WCE before displaying his talent at Fremantle.

I think l heard some where adam sellwood is retiring from afl football,l could be wrong, but he would be good for a vfl side, and maybe development coach,he is still only 29.

Jarred Moore from Werribee looks a good type of player to come over and captain the team if we could pry him away, from the Swans at AFL level still under 30. Just a thought but I do like the idea of Tuck or Adam Selwood
