Cricket 09/10
'Owzat! What a way for Pakistan to start their tour this summer.
Liposuction rules Shoaib out of tour
A SECRET attempt to lose weight through liposuction will keep Pakistani paceman Shoaib Akhtar out of the tour to Australia this summer.
Previously one of the world's most feared fast bowlers, Akhtar had grown so out of shape in recent months that he decided to have fat sucked from his midriff in a bid to return to the game slimmer and faster. Due to the operation, he will be sidelined for up to five months, which rules him out of Pakistan's three-Test and five-match one-day series in Australia starting Boxing Day.

Re: Cricket 09/10
This seasons tests could spell the end of the viability of the 5 day game in this country.
We will roll both WI and PAK 3-0 given good weather. ín front of record low crowds.
Look for a 10/11 season that is drastically different.

Re: Cricket 09/10
Hot tip: Don't bother buying tickets for days 4 & 5 of any Test this summer.

Re: Cricket 09/10
There will be 75000 at day one of the boxing day test. For sure. One day cricket has always been the cash cow that keeps test cricket viable in just about every country bar Australia and possibly England. We smashed WI 5-0 not that long ago and test cricket remains as popular, if not more so than 10-20 years ago. Ashes, and quality series against India and SA have seen to that.
One summer will not change cricket in this country much I wouldn't have thought.

Re: Cricket 09/10
Double edged sword - win too easy and its no fun to watch.
Lose and fans will stay away.
Personally I love the drama of test cricket and find the shorter versions a bit contrived and formulated. My fear is that its days may be numbered.

I'll say 50-60,000 tops, but then it will taper away to half that on day 2
