I was interested in Melbourne only naming Trengove as an emergency. Would have thought he would come straight back in.

Tuck could play for another 5 years, and therefore be part of the longer-term plan. Cousins has arguably one year, at best, in him. Tuck is also very low maintenance, whereas the club spends a lot of energy dealing with all Cousins' off-field dramas, and in future will have to contend with his imminent autobiography and documentary.

Re: The List Management Thread
Tuck deserves recognition for his year with a new contract. His case is completely different to Cuz. Each players worth needs to judged on their individual merits.

Re: The List Management Thread
Agree SS.
Dean Polo's immediate omission from the senior side speaks volumes. He won't be rolling out in Richmond colours next year.

Re: The List Management Thread
Shane Tuck - Ball hunter extroadinaire
But in Dimma's game plan we don't want ball hunters. We want and need players who play the team role and don't just charge into the contest.
So Shane gets sent to Coburg to work on his defensive game (and I bet to get composed when he gets the ball).
Noticeable changes since his return:
- He played half back and stuck to his man like glue and got spoils in (watch the Dee's game)
- He still rotates to half back occassionally and when he does he marks his man and limits his ball chasing
- On the ball I have seen him on numerous times stay out of the contest and provide the option or block for Trent or Dusty. That to me is his biggest change.
- Composure with the ball. When in space he now lowers his eyes and will hit targets 20 and 30 metres away. He has a funny kicking action when he does it as he sort of places the ball on his foot. He could always do this, he is just focussing on it.
- In traffic he can hack the ball, but so do Dusty and Cotch and I'm pretty sure that Tucky's effective disposal rate, for the year, is above the two of them.
- Long passes. Go watch the WC game and see him put it on Jack's tit from over 40 away.
A player who went away, took onboard the rules and now plays to them.

Re: The List Management Thread
But my whole point is: Did you watch Tuck's 25 touches against the Pies.
He struck me as a player who won't/can't match it with the top 4 sides...
Dunc - you say Tuck could play for 5 more years at the top level?? I have to question what your definition of the top level is.
A lot of people have said Cuz's kicking penetration has gone, his running has lost its power, he is on his last legs - but what I have seen with my own eyes, is a guy that knows where the footy is and will be, knows how to get it, and how to get it to people in a pozzie better than he. He has done this for his WHOLE career, and is still doing (and ha done it in 1st quarters as well - not in jumk time).
Using his media interests as a reason to delist him is a cop out - please provide me with evidence where Cuz has been a negative influence on a Richmond player. Ask #19 and #23 what they think!
What I see from Tucky, is a hard guy, willing and able to get the hard ball. A hard worker and a great clubman. He isn't fast (run down by Sam Mitchell), but is good overhead mark although this skill is rarely exhibited given his role. An accumulator maybe but not a distribitor. A guy who at 28, is not what Cuz is at 31.
In my mind - Cuz has done a lot more than Tuck to warrant a one year deal for 2011.

Re: The List Management Thread
Vines Mitchel was right up his clacker after he got the ball, he hardly ran him down, all he did was get up and go after him like he should of, Tuck was doing his best to try and break free and get a kick off out of a congested situation after winning a hard ball so that example is horse shit.
