What restrictions apply to newly registered users?

New Members to this site will have restricted permissions when they first join. This is mainly to protect this site from spammers and those people who gain pleasure from disrupting sites by other methods.

Once you have activated your registration, you'll be placed in the Rookie List Usergroup. As a member of this Usergroup you won't be able to post a new thread but you will be able to post a reply to a thread created by another Member. All your posts will be moderated - which means that a member of the Coaching Panel will check your post to ensure that it conforms to the site's posting rules. If this is the case, your post will be approved and will then appear on the site. If your post is rejected, it will not appear on the site and you will be sent the reasons for this action via Personal Message (PM).

After you have successfully posted on 10 occasions and been a member of the site for a minimum of 5 days, you'll be promoted to the Rising Star Usergroup. As a member of this Usergroup you'll be able to post a new thread however, the new thread will be moderated. Your posts in reply to other member's threads will still be moderated and you will not be able to reply to your own thread.

Other restrictions placed on both of the above Usergroups include:

  • Restricted number of PM's allowed to be stored
  • No 'Email to friend' link
  • You may not view the Member list
  • You may not e-mail other Members
  • You may not upload a personal Profile Picture
  • You may not upload a custom Avatar

Upon reaching 20 posts, you will be promoted to the Senior List where you'll be able to post without moderation and make use of the many tools available on the site.

If you are a member of the Rookie List or the Rising Star Usergroup you may post a question in the Help Desk forum topic, "New user problems".

My Username is shown in pink - what does that mean?

If you've just registered with the site, your Username will appear in pink until such time as you activate your registration by following the information in your welcoming email. If you haven't received your welcoming email or have deleted it by mistake, you can request another by going to http://www.yellowandblack.com.au/forum/register.php?do=requestemail and completing your email address. Make sure that you put 'coach@yellowandblack.com.au' on your email program's 'White List' to ensure that the email isn't deleted as SPAM.

If you are an existing Member and all of a sudden find your Username in pink, one of the following has occurred:
* You have changed your email address and have yet to activate your account using the information emailed to you or
* You've been sent several emails from the site that have 'bounced' (i.e. undeliverable) and are required to activate your account again.

In both of the above instances, you'll need to visit http://www.yellowandblack.com.au/forum/register.php?do=requestemail and complete your email address to resend your activation email. Simply follow the instructions you'll find there to activate your account. Note that it may take up to 1 hour to reinstate your account to your previous level as the process runs automatically every hour.
